This is the seventh post in a series. If you have not done so already, you will probably want to start at the beginning, with the post called Platoon (Background.)
You find a covered place to shelter your platoon and move forward to see what is going on.
Near the top of a ridge, you see Colonel Grandmaison. He is looking through his binoculars towards the north. He calls to you, asking for your company commander.
You move to the colonel’s location and offer to find the captain, whom you haven’t seen since you left the woods earlier this afternoon.
“Never mind,” says the colonel. The 160th [Infantry Regiment] is fully engaged. We need to support it. Get your platoon into action right away. The direction in which you advance is up to you.”
To your front you see a crossroads, which rests upon a small plateau.
On the north side of that plateau, the ground slopes down towards the north and east, before rising again.
What are your orders?
The series continues with Platoon (Problem VIII), which will begin with the historical solution to this problem.
Advance towards Marthille. Whether the 160th are to my right or left, it's an enemy-held town possibly in use by spotters. As a platoon we're certainly too small to attack towards Morhange on our own.
