The Plan for 2026

Christmas persists. Thus, between now and 6 January 2026, we will continue with the ‘holiday routine’ described last week. In other words, you can expect, in the very near future, biographies of the protagonists of decision-forcing cases we will present in the New Year.

Holiday Routine

Speaking of which … soon after Gerhard von Scharnhorst and Clio Avatar returned from their TAD trip to the North Pole, they sketched out a publication plan for the year to come.

The Schwerpunkt of our winter campaign will lie with the German tradition of maneuver warfare. Thus, you can expect to see lots of decision games pulled from military magazines of the past two centuries or so, as translations of notable writings. In particular, we will resume the serialization of the memoirs of Stosstrupp-leading Lieutenant Lydding.

Come spring, we will celebrate the birthday of US Army with posts that build upon the studies of infantry units conducted by John Sayen and decision-forcing cases based on the experiences of the small unit leaders.

We will devote the summer to the study of the American War of Independence and the military history, both American and European, of the sesquicentury that preceded it. So, if you take your powder black, you will enjoy the pieces we post, and the problems we pose, in June, July, and August.

As is meet, right, and salutary, the falling of the first leaf of autumn will remind us to resume our study of the history of the US Marine Corps.

Lest we fall prey to that foolish consistency that gobblehobs little minds, we intend to punctuate our seasonal themes with articles and games on other subjects. These include such familiar favorites as drones and such new subjects as armed merchant ships and warfare in cyberspace.

Finally, we plan continue with such series as Milstack Saturday and Blast from the Past. (During the winter of 2026, the former will showcase the martial art of Lady Elizabeth Butler.)
