For more than a week, an entente cordiale of the microbial persuasion took considerable pains to deprive me of the means to make the sort of contributions to The Tactical Notebook that you, Gentle Reader, have come to expect. That is the bad news. The good news is this. I am on the mend, and will soon be back in my office at the Old Headquarters, fit as a fiddle, and doing my bit to make the electrons dance. Better yet, the fever dreams of the past nine days proved productive of possibilities. Thus, I return to the land of the living with a legal-pad full of outlines and a pencil-box full of index cards.
Thus, in the absence of force majeure, you may expect, in the very near future:
The start of a series on various kinds of attrition.
Continuation (at a more aggressive pace) of Winter is Coming.
The start of a series on practical ways to reduce the power of néoconnerie.
Completion of the series that began with The Curious Carriage of Captain Mourcet.
Completion of the series on French heavy artillery at Belleau Wood.
The revival of our series on the Kraken Special Unit and other “private armies” of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The start of a series on the theme of “military expertise.”

Hi Bruce. Love your stuff but you're clogging my inbox. Can you turn it down a bit so it's a treat?
