I have, indeed, given notice to the entirety of my staff. As a result, the home office of The Tactical Notebook is quieter than the men's room at a Taylor Swift concert.
Well conducting a raid and starting an engagement with the main body is certainly one way to do things! It’s much faster than my COA, but I don’t recall starting a fight as part of the mission brief 🤣
Clearly it worked out well enough, but it is a really good thing the French commander was not one of Joachim Murat’s ancestors!
Question on the construction of the case as writing these is an interest of mine. How does the first post with the deep background (childhood, etc) help frame the problem?
Biographical details humanize the protagonist, reminding players that the role they are playing represents a person of flesh and blood. They also provide clues about the abilities of the protagonist. Thus, for example, we know that Baron Riedesel has a great deal of experience with the countryside over which he is operating.
Speaking of Coup De Main Dye factory 🏭 at Gottingen was NOT mentioned in the setup.

“a suburban dye works. The latter collection of buildings plays host to a French outpost, composed of a handful of cavalrymen and a small number of foot soldiers.”
"In addition to this, Göttingen is surrounded by a belt of small industrial settlements, where people engaged in odiferous enterprises of various sorts ply their sooty, smelly trades."

I find interesting and entertaining that evidently this problem is out of a book that the JFK Special Warfare Center has at it's library.
Good they are thinking on all levels and all times :-)
A very direct approach!
