Of all the units of the Schnelle Division, the ones that changed least during the conversion of that formation into the 4th Light Division was the infantry gun battalion.
The infantry gun battalion consisted of two identical line companies. Each of these was divided into four platoons, each of which was armed with two 47mm dual purpose guns. When the infantry gun battalion became the antitank battalion (Panzerabwehr Abteilung) of the 4th Light Division, each platoon exchanged its two 47mm guns for three 37mm anti-tank guns.
Unlike its German and Austrian counterparts, the division légère mechanique had no special antitank battalion. Rather, its 25mm anti-tank guns were were spread throughout the infantry brigade, with no infantry battalion having more than three such weapons.
