As Soixante-Quinze September enters the last decade of the ninth month of 2023, I find myself wondering about a theme for October.
Here are some options:
Oorah October will focus on issues and events from the history of the US Marine Corps.
Engineer October will showcase all sorts of things related to sappers, miners, and pioneers.
Ostfront October will fill the pages of the Tactical Notebook with translations, digests, and explications of after-action reports written by folks who fought in the great German-Soviet War of 1941-1945.
Robot October will deal with the implications of the use of self-directed machines as weapons of war.
What do you, Gentle Readers, think?
No one wants to know more about sappers and miners!
Maybe some other month. These supposedly boring parts of warfare are understudied and often fascinating.
