Oh dear, that link to the Kwangtung army and the innuendos against Kurrilla got me engaged;

I posted over there;

“Strategic Focus; Money; DC has an Empire , and the MIDEAST has lots of money. Author fails to understand that America is a proper Empire, unlike poor Meiji Japan, and that Empires extract tribute.

The Middle East especially the very rich and generous Saudis and other Gulf states pay suits ( not uniforms) extremely well , with poor little AIPAC running far back in the distance, fortunately Israel has numerous voters in both the GOP and until recently the Democrats. This isn’t enough to match the generosity of the Gulf States, but it has kept Israel from ending up like Kabul or Saigon.

DC has perfect strategic clarity and knows a great and enduring stream of beneficence that’s easy picking when it finds one, and DC did.

The Author seems to be under the impression the American military has any real over policy, it doesn’t in reality nor Constitutionally, nor in any way. It is likely that in terms of real power any established maitre D’ or K street lawyer has more real power than CJCS, or the CENTCOM commander.

CENTCOM you know is a trailer park in Florida, hardly auspicious digs.

The Kwantung Army boogeyman isn’t CENTCOM, but Washington DC.

One might call one of its major units “K-Street.”

Or perhaps “Kwantung Street, but most assuredly it’s on the Potomac.

The K-Street army of Congressional creatures of both parties, Lobbyists and Lawyers for both the parties as well as media, and legions of voters eager to prove their holiness to either Christ, Zion or both.

If only poor Eric Kurilla or any of our scapegoats , of which he is just the latest, had but a fraction of that influence. Your indictment of him Sec Rock is worthy of a NY DA named Laelita James, second hand and reeking of midwhiffery. You are hurling innuendos at an honorable man, who did none of these things, he was given a mission and it’s been successfully carried out. Rarely would I defend a GOFO, but this is too much.

Kindly pivot to some understanding of America, who has the power and who doesn’t, who gives orders and who carries them out and hope you’re never slandered as baselessly and senselessly as the General De Jour Kurrilla is slandered and accused by innuendo is here by you. This reads like something that Jacobin mag wouldn’t publish, perhaps Jezebel is available?

Disclosure; I have never met or served with Kurrilla, I simply tire of the military being accused because they stand at attention and take it.”
