The best articles on military subjects I read (or listened to) in the past week
While I am saving the MP3 of Conceptual Spiral Redux for my next early-morning ride along Interstate 95, the teaser text reminded me that learning from John R. Boyd is largely a matter of conversation. That is, rather than offering rules or pre-packaged solutions, engaging the work of Colonel Boyd gives us the benefit of close contact with a remarkable mind.
Speaking of which, the Paris Journals of Ernst Jünger won’t tell you much about Stosstrupp tactics. (That is what the many posts by, or about, Jünger published by The Tactical Notebook are for!) What they will do, however, help you get more out of your reading, writing, walking, and encounters with people.
Over at The Connecting File, you can work your way through a decision-making exercise (what we call a ‘tactical decision game’) that puts you in the boots of the leader of a US Marine rifle company.
Moving from the moral and the mental to the physical, you can improve your Spanish and learn a lot about functional fitness by reading the offerings of Atletas Tácticos.
