The best Substack pieces on military subjects that I enjoyed in the past week
Most of the articles included in this list rolled off the presses (so to speak) in the past seven days. A few, however, may be older pieces that I discovered in the week that ends today.
In Back to the Bloodlands: Operation Krepost, Big Serge, master of the long-form military essay, explores a variety of explanations for the Ukrainian incursion west of Kursk.
In How Hayek Helps, Mark McGrath provides readers, both civil and military, with a primer on thriving in a world rich in distributed information.
In this week’s episode of Fullbore Friday, Commander Salamander introduces his readers to ‘the ship that wouldn’t die’.
In Ernie Pyle Goes to the War, Robert Mosher tells tales of the famous war correspondent.
In The MiG That Flew Itself to the West, Military Aviation Videos describes an incident in which a MiG-23 became an ‘unmanned aerial vehicle’ avant la lettre.

Thanks for sharing my article! The Boyd-Hayek synergies are worth of further study and application!
Big Serge and the post Back to the Bloodlands: Operation Krepost ought to be required reading for anyone who wants to opine about the current state affairs in the Ukraine Conflict currently. Tuned me up on some theories not contemplated heretofore. Don’t let the length fool you, it reads fast!!!
