Complete issues of the Marine Corps Gazette lie beyond a paywall. Nonetheless, the editors of that journal have made available to the general public several articles of particular relevance to the maneuver warfare tradition. One of these, called “Learning from the Germans” explains why I have, over the past five decades, devoted so much attention to the events, artifacts, and ideas of the German military tradition.
