“even National Guard enlisted men were reluctant to serve on an equal footing with their perceived social inferiors in the Regular Army.”

REALLY. Well, being Nasty Guard for most of my time, I wish I had known this! 😂

Having spend a long time in the Regular or Active Army I find it disheartening that these kinds of statement about Compo 1, 2, and 3 Soldiers have and are still mentioned even today. I loath the term of "nasty guard" and find it unprofessional. If a Soldier of any flavor is not up-to-speed the Soldier's and the unit leaders are the ones that need to look themselves in the mirror and ask themselves "what should they have done better" for their troops.

Also, limited "resources" is in my opinion a weak excuse that hear from all three components and a cop out by poor leadership.

I was joking about a historical curiosity of the Spanish American war, but all your points are valid.

Our biggest mistake is trying to enforce compliance with the civilian bureaucracy, not Constitutional Control (which is of course over) but compliance with the many thousands of mandates. This ruined us, as the bureaucracy ruins all it touched.

You can’t comply with contradictions, and we’d need a 40 hour day in a thousand day year. This was once known and priorities enforced, nonsense ignored.

The missing resource being leadership. Gone. Driven out or destroyed. Still we held out longer than the rest.

Let them go. We owe them nothing, nothing good. We did not swear to them, and what we swore to they ruined.

I agree, my allegiance is to support and defend the Constitution of these United States. That is what joined and stayed in that Army for 31+ years, in good times (mostly) and bad time.

Other in service and other organs of government established by the Constitution should remember work they work for, The American People, and what they represent and are there to support, The United States.

They need to step up to the plate and do their best or let some else take a swing at the plate.

And thanks for your service, we are all green under the skin.

If we had leadership the Constitution still could have the biggest team.
