A decision game

In February of 1938, the second issue of Deutsche Infanterie provided its readers to a tactical decision game. Set in the hilly, river-cut countryside west of the city of Berlin, this exercise placed players in the role of the commanding officer of a standard German infantry battalion of the day.

You command the 1^st Battalion of Infantry Regiment 55 of the the Blue Army. Your unit consists of three rifle companies (each of three rifle platoons), a machine gun company (of three four-gun machine gun platoons), and a platoon of two 75^mm infantry guns. (You have attached the latter, which was provided by the regimental infantry gun company, to your machine gun company.)
