Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bruce Ivar Gudmundsson, and I write The Tactical Notebook.
Since 10 November 2022, The Tactical Notebook has published more than a thousand articles about ‘the armies that are, the armies that were, and the armies that might have been’. Some of these are entirely new. Others are classics that I have cleaned up, illustrated, and provided with explanatory notes.
So … if you enjoy delving into the nooks and crannies of Clio’s attic, you have come to the right place. Likewise, if you find value in critiques of current events that make use of the patterns of the past, you will find much of interest in The Tactical Notebook.
The richness of our content is such that many readers find much of interest on the far side of the links found on the ‘aggregator of aggregators’ called The Gateway. (Readers who prefer to peruse links listed in accordance with popularity, date of publication, or date of comments may do so by means of the Archive.)
The Tactical Notebook makes most of its content available to all readers, free of charge. However, as locating hard-to-find material can get expensive, we are grateful to those who have gone the extra mile by taking out paid subscriptions.
As a way of expressing our appreciation to paid subscribers, The Tactical Notebook offers the following benefits:
Full access, for the duration of your subscription, to the articles, e-books, interactive courses, and videos published by the Warfare Mastery Institute.
The ability to comment on posts and provide solutions to the many decision games that we publish.
Access to higher-quality digital copies of some of the sources, such as maps, articles, and historical documents, used in our articles.
A complimentary subscription to Extra Muros, a newsletter about ways readers can obtain the benefits of a liberal education while remaining ‘outside the walls’ of our dying universities.
A complimentary subscription to The Tactical Notebook for a person of your choice.
