
When I were a lad, combing attics, thrift shops, and yard sales for books to feed my budding interest in military history, I often encountered well-thumbed copies of Victory through Airpower. Written, in great haste, by aviation pioneer Alexander de Seversky, this book sat atop The New York Times bestseller list for much of 1942, provided the basis for an animated film of the same name, and, earned pop culture immortality when a much shorter cartoon showed Bugs Bunny reading a book called Victory through Hare Power.
