I concur. The footage is really helpful to see who is moving where and how.
By this time, everyone were sick of the war and just wanted to go home. Looking at pictures of these blasted lands, I of course think about Tolkiens' descriptions of the black lands and Mordor. I doubt anyone who was there was every free of those images or the smells.
