Like the Pacific Ocean, the History of the Second World War.is much broader, and far deeper, than any of its competitors. It begins, not in 1941, or even 1939, but in 1933, right where the previous podcast of its creator ends. Moreover, rather than giving his listeners twenty minutes of they-shoulda-listened-to-Churchill and Spanish-Civil-War-dress-rehearsal-for-the-big-show, Wesley Livesay treated his listeners to 114 half-hour episodes on various aspects of the years between 1933 and 1939.
Having done that, Mr. Livesay devoted 20 episodes to the German and Soviet invasions of Poland in 1939. Thus, if he remains true-to-form, his exploration of the subsequent fight for Western Europe in the following year should run to 40 or even 50 episodes. And that, for the sort of people who read Tactical Notebook, is a very good thing.
